Product Use & Installation Disclaimer

Peace Light sells solar-powered animal deterrents for outdoor use. This page explains how they are meant to be used and what they are not designed to do. Please read it before installing.

WHAT THESE PRODUCTS DO
Our repellers discourage animals from settling in an area using ultrasonic sound, flashing LEDs and — on the underground stakes — vibration through the soil. They are deterrents. Nothing about them touches, traps or harms the animal.

WHAT THEY ARE NOT
They are not a barrier, a fence or a trap.
They are not a security or safety device and must not be relied on as one.
They do not remove animals already living in a roof, a wall cavity or a burrow.
They do not make an area snake-free. The underground stakes are intended to make a space less inviting to rodents and other burrowing animals; because snakes follow rodents, reducing rodent activity can reduce some of what attracts them. Never treat any part of your property as safe from snakes because a repeller is installed. If you find a snake on your property, contact a licensed snake catcher.

RESULTS VARY
Effectiveness depends on the animal, the site, the layout of the yard and how long the unit has been running. Some animals get used to a single unchanging signal, which is why our units offer multiple modes. We cannot guarantee a particular result with a particular animal.

PETS AND OTHER ANIMALS
Ultrasonic frequencies are audible to dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice and many birds. Do not install a unit facing, or close to, a kennel, hutch, aviary, run or anywhere an animal is confined and cannot move away from the sound. If a pet shows signs of distress, switch the unit off and reposition it.

PEOPLE
Some people, particularly children and young adults, can hear these frequencies at close range. Do not install a unit at head height beside a bedroom window, a doorway or a seating area that is in constant use.

INSTALLATION AND USE
For outdoor use. The units are weather resistant — do not submerge them or hose them directly.
Keep the sensor's line of sight clear. Long grass, branches and washing moving in the wind can trigger it.
Charge only with the supplied cable and a standard 5V USB power source.
Use only the battery type specified for the unit, and do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not dismantle, crush, pierce, short-circuit or incinerate the batteries, or expose them to fire or high heat.
Keep units and batteries out of reach of young children.
Do not point a unit directly at a person or an animal at close range.
Ground stakes: check for underground services such as irrigation lines or cabling before pushing a stake into the soil.

AUSTRALIAN WILDLIFE
Many Australian animals, possums among them, are protected native wildlife. Harming them, or relocating them without a permit, is an offence, and the rules differ from state to state. These products are deterrents, and deterrence is the lawful option. Check with your state wildlife authority if you are unsure.

LIABILITY
Peace Light is not liable for damage, loss or injury resulting from misuse, modification, incorrect installation, or use outside a product's intended purpose. Nothing in this disclaimer limits or excludes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
